Twilight

Twilight

One of my favourite songs from the mid-90s is Violet, by Courtney Love's band Hole, in which she sings: "And the sky was all violet…”, I always loved the idea of a violet sky, but it wasn't until one day on a late evening flight home from a week in Spain that I saw the sky really could look a beautful shade of violet without the aid of a camera filter! The beads I've used for these earrings remind me of that twilight sky. The beads, made by UK glass artist, Isabelle Anderson (Flame and Glass) are each topped with a cluster of periwinkle blue tanzanite rondelles, each wired on a silver headpin. Dangling beneath each glass orb a single, inky blue iolite heart briolette, wire-wrapped with silver. Each earring hangs from a handshaped sterling silver hook earwire, that has been tumbled for strength and shine. The dangles of these earrings measure about 3.9cm (1.5") and the total length from the top of the earwire to bottom of the briolette is about 6cm (2 3/8").
